365+ Ballistic plates level IV+ BZ32 7.62x54R armor piercing incendiary round test
Wednesday, March 1, 2017
We tested the 365+ hard ballistic plates to the extreme! The test was done on two different curved hard armor plates. These are made out of SSiC composite ceramics. The dimensions of the plates are 250 mm x 300 mm. The first plate is the 365+ Multi Use that weighs 2 kilos and offers a protection level of VPAM6 on its own (http://www.365-plus.com/multi-use-plate-iv-bz32-icw-iiia). The second plate is the 365+ Hi-Protect Pro that weighs 2,6 kilos and offers a protection of level IV + BZ32 (http://www.365-plus.com/hi-protect-pro-plate-iv-bz32-sa). All the shots were made at a distance of 7 meters to get the best representation.
The plates were leaned onto 50 kg of clay, to simulate the body weight to make the test more representative. Since clay keeps the shape, it also gave us the possibility to see what the trauma caused by the kinetic energy of the bullet would be like even when there is no penetration.
Now this is not a laboratory test (although all our plates have several official certificates), but we tried to make a user comprehensive review that you can see with your own eyes, and we are convinced that you will be impressed! All the plates used in the tests are state-of-the-art and of the highest quality. They are produced for the professional market, but all of them are fully available on the civilian market as well.
The first plate we shot at was the 365+ Multi Use. We first fired a 5,56x45 Ball round into one. There was no penetration and the trauma damage was next to nothing. We then shot another such plate with a 7,62x39 AP (BZ) round. The trauma level here was a bit bigger, but the bullet didn’t go through. In a separate test, such plates withstood 7 shots of normal 7,62x39 FMJ or even 10 shots with 5,56x45 FMJ rounds with ease.
We continued with the 365+ Hi-Protect Pro plates. First a shot with a .308 FMJ round did not penetrate, and the trauma level was not all that high either. To go to the extremes, we then shot one such plate with a 7,62x54R API (BZ32) round from a Mosin-Nagant rifle, which, due to a longer barrel, gives the bullet more speed than a PKM or SVD respectively. Even with this round, there was no penetration. The trauma level was significant, but the user would live and suffer no lasting consequences! And the plate withstood two such rounds with no problem.
Check out the video. We guarantee you that these are some of the best plates on the market!
